What is the Indie Design Gift-A-Long (also known as the GAL)?

It's one of the world's biggest events on Ravelry to celebrate independent pattern designers, with lots of KALs and CALs, competitions, treasure hunts and prizes to be won! All patterns from all participating designers are eligible for the KALs and CALs, whether they were purchased during the GAL or not! All you have to do is finish your project(s) before 11.59pm (US-EST) on 31 December to enter the various prize draws.

The GAL is also the biggest pattern promotion of the year for most of us. During the event, participating independent designers will be offering a 25% discount on 10 to 20 of their patterns during the first week of the GAL. I've selected 20 of my patterns to take part in this promotion: shawls like the Falling Slowly or the Eider, socks like the Windy Days, the Cathédrales or the Petits Petons, the Marked Trail slippers, the Première Neige mitts/mitens, or the Mélusine hat.
